HELP!!!! MY A/C UNIT IS SWITCHING ON AND OFF AND NOT COOLING

I purchased a new a/c unit four months ago and last night I got home and it would run for awhile and then stop..same thing all night. It would not cool my house. Filters are new and changed regurlaly, Digital Thermostat works fine..I'm in Texas and it's hot anybody with any ideas please submit. The inside unit runs fine.
