I am a rummage sale junkie, so it naturally follows that I have found a home on Ebay! Does anyone have any "inside secrets" for success on Ebay? I'd like to make more money. Is there a way on Ebay where you can search newly listed items for each day? Hour? I'd love to hear your ideas!

You can end up spending more money on Ebay than you make if you aren't careful. You would have to have items that several people want and have good item descriptions. The start price would have to look good to people too and you would want to actually make a profit (not selling your item for less than you think it is worth). This is always a risk on Ebay.

I sell on ebay quite often and one thing I have to say is always stay in contact with your buyer. For example I always contact them with a tracking number and approximate arrival date to let them know. Then I track the package and when I see that it has been delivered then I email them to make sure it had arrived ok and if they were happy with it. I also print out all of my invoices and most of the time there is an email address especially if you use paypal and I send ecards on different holidays. I find people love that and it also makes for repeat business.

i use a dropshipping company. that way i just post the auction and dont deal with the headaches of shipping. If you go to ebay forums, there is a sectioni abotu what is hot right now and what isnt selling.my advice, look around at what similar items are being auctioned off for. that way you can get a pretty good idea of where to price your stuff

They have a podcast. They talk about how e-bay works, and how to market successfully.

Yes, ebay does have a way you can view newly listed items. You can create a search, sort by date (so it shows items that have been most recently listed), and then save the search (or bookmark it or set it up so you get RSS feeds of it).
Another thing you might be interested in is looking at eBay's Want It Now feature, where you can browse items that buyers are requesting.

I sell things on ebay quite often and I have one key tip for anyone selling. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS make your auction end on a weekend. Plan ahead. I ended up selling an ipod nano case for more than a £11 worth textbook, simply because of the end date. It is very important.
I hope that helps.

I buy and sell very often on ebay as well. The only thing I can say is, be careful of how much money you are spending on selling fees. You could easily spend way too much money on selling fees and not earn very much profit.

?I don't, but I would like to say be careful. Make sure you know your shipping costs going into it. Make sure you don't overcharge on shipping, make sure you are prepared to ship ASAP...oops.

Well I have only started selling on ebay in the past week, but I love it. Yeah the fees are a little extreeme but Ive found by listing lots of smaller items I can make a profit. I made $200 in profit this past week, afetr fees etc. YAY! The only advice i have is as follows:
1. Keep listing fees to a minimum. Fancy borders, and flashy subtitles dont attract more buyers.
2. Take great quality photos, one good photo is the equivalent of ten bad ones.
3. Be helpful, friendly and accommodating to all potential bidders and winning buyers. Feedback can MAKE or BREAK you on ebay.
Have fun, good luck, let me know if I can help you in any other way :D

I've recently started by selling stuff around my house. For example I'm selling an old Tivo remote right now and it's going for over $7, that's pure profit because I couldn't use it with anything. I would also say stick with items you know. Do your research before you buy anything, used ebay's advanced search option and see how much certain items are selling for. Only buy something if you know you can sell it for more. Also try not to use reserves, they cost more and people don't like them, also try to avoid starting the bidding too high, the higher the starting price the higher your fee's.
good luck!

I have tried in the past different times to make money on Ebay, but always found that the fees ate up what little profit I would make. It seems more and more that people are paying less for items then what they used to. I guess it probably depends on what your niche is though if people will pay higher prices for items.
