Why do most superheroes wear their underwear on the outside?

Now why DO superheroes wear their underwear on the outside? Is it their idea of a fashion statement?

good question then they had under ware of them all to or they use to. I had wonder woman when I was little. They had all of the others for the boys. I think spiderman is the only one that I don't remember that way .

I guess they think its sexy. I don't see any other reason to do it.
