i've been doing a lot of surfing in the net and i found out that there are lots of pro-ana websites around. there are also personal tips from anorexic people on how to be like them. i think it's also important for people who don't practice it to read their website. not only to learn the symptoms but also to get a better look on why people practice it. for moms, concerned brothers and sisters, and friends, here are the common practice for anorexic or anorexic-wanna be's: a. they always say they're full or they had a big meal when you offer food b. some anorexic people wear rubber bands to actually hurt themselves when they feel hungry, to basically divert the attention c. you always see candy wrappers around their room, but they don't actually gain weight, they just flush down the candies d. they always try to cook but don't eat- because they're full tasting the food. e.they always sit on the table longer than anybody else and try to play with the food, scatter it on the plate f.one girl from her website said that she actually pisses her parents off so they won't bother her if she skips dinner or lunch g. they try to say nasty things about anorexic people to make them look as if they're against it. you can also try to check other websites.

Recently HouseKat posted that her 9 year old daughter hasn't been eating her lunch at school for about 3 weeks now. All because a boy in her class called her fat. I did some research myself and found that girls age 11-14 begin to develop eating disorders and girls as young as 7 have had eating disorders. It's a very sad world that we live in!

Often saying things like that could be an excuse though. When asked why you think you're fat, you say someone told you you were fat (in my case, my mom really did tell me I was fat... but if I told someone I thought I was fat, they'd ask who said that, I'd tell them everyone did). Hopefully 9 year olds aren't on the pro-ana sites. :(

Anorexics also tend to wear baggy clothes to hide their thinness (although some say it's to hide their "fat"). Those sites usually have pages and pages of various triggers so that if they were to feel like eating, all they have to do is either look at photos of obese people and become disgusted, or look at photos of skeletons and want to look like that too. Those sites are really quite disgusting.

Its such a sad disease. I think parents should notice there child with this and if they see it get themto a doctor quick. Hopefully its sooner then later. Its a killer disease if gone unchecked and its scared the pooh out of me. As i have 3 kids and diseases like this scare me cause most kids hide it till its to late

Although those may be "common practices" for anorexics, there's so much more to the disorder than just excuses and diverting attention. Just because someone is displaying your list of signs and symptoms, does NOT mean they have an eating disorder!

that is a good info.. at least we now know some possible symptoms of people having anorexia. it perplexed me why some people would advocate others to be anorexic... is being anorexic can really makes you blind to see the right decision? anyway, this one is a great info. thanks.

Yeah, I found these websites last year and was shocked to read girls as young as 10 swapping tips and having competitions to see who could lose the most weight in a week. There were even girls asking how to become anorexic/bulimic or ana or mia as they call it.

is it disturbing to say that sometimes i wish i was anorexic so that i could lose weight? i so much love food that i cannot let go of it that's why i wanna be an ana. but of course, even though i start to become chubby, i think it's healthy that i do not cut on food intake, because im happy with the people around me. and i love it that they call me blooming with added weight. but yeah sometimes people are rude... the world is crazy. i want to be fat and thin altogether. hehe.
