What I usually did was to get a book for the teacher to add to her classroom library. Actually that is probably more expensive than the usual, but it was usually one of my kids' favorite books, so they felt like they had helped with the choice. One year we, as room parents did a basket of apples for the classroom teacher. I sewed a lining for an inexpensive basket. I try to get useful things, like school supplies. Sticky notes.

Those are some great ideas. My girls got their teachers coffee mugs, and I am filling them with candy. NOt too creative but they both got a $3 gift cert from scholastic as well...so I hope they use it. Thanks for your response.

We usually do, thought due to my lack of creativity and business over the holidays it's ususally just some chocolates. The teachers at our school are wonderful and the kids just love them. g My son's teacher has sent out a note requesting that we not give her gifts and instead donate $2 towards the purchase of toys for needy kids. So we will be donating for her gift and giving something to my daughters teacher. We also give out small gifts to my kids Brownie and Beaver leaders every year. They volunteer their time so we make sure to show our appreciation for them.
