I have been to Venice in 1986. I was staying at a hotel in Firenze and decided to make a 1 day train trip to Venice. It was a rainy day (not really hard rain, but little short showers). When I arrived to Saint Marcus Square I felt overwhelmed, even when the big Cathedral was covered by black cloth, as they were restoring it. I went upstairs the Two Moors Clock Tower (I'm not sure if it's called this way in English) and walked up and down the streets of Venice, along the channels. Late in the evening I returned to Firenze, but I think it was in Siena train station that we had to wait for a long time, as the train workers had gone on strike (sciopero). I arrived to Firenze late in the night and could not find any open restaurant, till I found a little one, where there was no more clients than me and my trip mates. I would like to return and spend more time there, as it is a wonderful town.

Last summer i spent with my girlfriend in Italy.We stay for a week in Iesolo a resort at the Adriatic sea(I guess:P)and near Venice.On the last day we went to Venice.It was the best trip ever.Venice is a fantastic city.Actually when you go to Venice you can feel the History of old Italy.It was a strange feeling for me but also a unique feeling.I must go once in a lifetime to Venice.It's a great city of Italy and world

I've been to Venice...but...I really wasn't that impressed. It was hot and smelly, and I think I would have enjoyed it much more had it not been the middle of August when I was there.

I have visited this city, however I must say, contrary to popular belief this city is NOT romantic at all! We experienced rude people (because we are Americans, we were treated poorly), high costs/expenses, and an overall lack of life! We weren't able to find live music anywhere (we asked several people, however they stated that such music was rare in Venice), so we had to spend our "romantic" dinners listening to a RADIO! Geez, I live in the middle of the freaking Midwest United States, in a pretty boring state, yet I can still find live music, friendly people, romantic atmospheres, and so forth.
