what is the best and the cheapest material to use as sound proof?

we been having trouble on what material we could use as sound proof. my borther had his drums for months and we are having trouble when they are on a practice, so we decided to to put it in his room and with that a sound proof so that it wont bother the two other room.
do you think egg tray would be the best and the cheapest to use? and if yes what is the proper installing? so we need to add foam before we put the tray? how can we maximixe the used of the egg tray?

Just do like Elvis and put carpet up on the walls and ceiling. You can get remnants from your local carpet store for relativly cheap. Just tack it to the walls and ceiling. Good luck.
