why to submit tags?

Tags are there so that people can find your discussion more easily. If say you were starting a topic on religion, you would put in the tags something like this : god, religion, belife, life You see? then if someone were to type in 'god' in the search bar, your topic would be there. You must enter them with commas separating them, like I did. You can also add more tags to someone elses discussion, after you post, I dont always bother with this though.

heya, i think the tags in mylot help ppl to find discussions and mylot to categorise them. i think that when you are reading a discussion and you get the list underneath that says similar discussions, it is because they have the same tag as the one you are reading. if i am right in this assumption then it is important to use them because they will give your discussion more exposure. if it is not your discussion but someone elses then the tags will be added if they have not been already. Yes it is important. How the search engines work? by the similar way, mylot works. For example, u need the some points about the topic, "Castellated beam in civil engineering" and try it in search engines. U can get some thousands results for that. How? they add the tags as civil engineering, beam, castellated, structural engineering and so on. Like that in mylot it helps people who are in mylot community to search discussions of their interest....thats all....

submitting tags is very important when submitting a response or starting a discussion .Actually I think that the reason behind this is that whenever anybody wants to search for any particular type of discussions he can search for it just by searching for the particular tag

i think tags are very necessary so that its easy to search for topics of our interest and some general topics can also be searched for easily only if there are tags....

It helps you promoting your discussions because when someone searches for a subject, if you have that subject in any of your discussions it will be listed and it increases the possible number of replies to your discussion.
