what is split personality

that describes a condition in which single person acts as two different personalities. but he never knows that he has two personalities. if personalities are more than two , then it is called MULTIPLE PERSONALITY DISORDER.Earlier versions of the DSM named the condition MULTIPLE PERSONALITY DISORDER(MPD)and the term still used by the ICD-10.There is controversy around the existence,the possible causes,the prevalence across cultures,and the epidemiology of the condition.
