Christmas, what's the point?

It's strange, here it 6 days before Christmas, and we haven't put up a single decoration. And you know what? I don't think it bothers me in the least. I am so tired of the incredible comercialization of this wonderful holiday.
Bad attitudes, prices that are jacked up, even the conflict over saying Merry Christmas!! For Heaven sake... (which I'll remind you is where this all began) What next? Taking the word Christmas off the calendars???
Don't get me wrong, I completely believe in the Birth of Christ, I guess I just don't believe in what the celebration has become.

My eight year old did all of the decorating this year. (So you can imagine how it looks). I've gotten to where when Thanksgiving gets here, I purposely slow down. I get my gifts as early as I can, and try to do the shopping in just a couple of stops. My family all moved to another state, my husband isn't close to his family. So we don't make a big deal about Christmas. We have a birthday cake for Jesus, open presents and have a quiet lazy day. I don't get to caught up in the marathon before hand. I used to - then decided it wasn't worth the stress. I used to work retail and I can agree about the attitudes. I'm so glad I'm not doing that anymore!

I knew I forgot to add something... about being broke. Because of the high prices, and having to put money in nearly every impatient hand that is raised... there is nothing left for those we love. Christmas cards all around this year, with a lot of love. That's the best we can do.
Sad, I know.
