well this will be related to both chemistry and biology
what i know about chemistry-
breaking bonds is an endothermic reaction
building up bonds is an exothermic reaction
what i learnt from biology- ADP and ATP
(well, can i assume the people here know about ADP and ATP?)
to attach a Pi to ADP requires energy
to detach a Pi from ATP to form an ADP gives out energy
is there a contradiction between chemistry and biology or i took any of them wrongly?

hey man u hv ur ans in ur own understanding..u r correct breaking bond is endothermic n vice versa vid jst one thing to kno..for a chemical rxn to take place FREE ENERGY of the system should b negative..wt u r citing abt ADP N ATP r very correct bt its not that a simple rxn takin place..a lot of enzymatic actions occurs meanwhile n overall rxn is d way u r getting the facts.rxn takes place at the expance of other energy source.that together makes free energy less than zero n hence making the rxn feasible.
