A child that doesn't look like either of the parents?

What do you think of this? I have a little boy that looks nothing like my husband or I. My husband and I both have dark hair, my husband green eyes, mine brown. Our son? blonde hair and blue eyes. he is at the age that if these things were going to change, they should have by now. It's crazy. Don't get me wrong, he is the cutest thing ever. In fact, I don't know how something so cute came from my husband and I...hehe Anyhow, anyone else have a child like this? Please share!

I think it is perfectly normal. His hair still may darken as he gets older, my husband was blonde well into his teens. My parents are both dark haired and dark eyed, my sister and I are both red heads and she has blue eyes. I am sure that it came from some other genes some where in your family.

I figured he would have by now as well, but he hasn't. His hair is starting to turn red now. Which, I have auburn hair that has a lot of red in it. So, maybe. Thanks for responding.

It can happen a lot, the genes may have passed from a few generations above you, there must be someone with blonde hair and blue eyes in your ancestors .. I mean either in your or your husband's family..

Well it's strange and may raise a few eye brows I guess but just ignore it, you are lucky to have a beautiful child and that what counts, it can come from much more deeper generations than your grandparents can remember .. maybe from when Europeans first invaded Mexico :)

My aunt and uncle both had dark brown hair and brown eyes. They had 5 children. 3 were blond and blue eyes and 2 were red heads and green eyes. So my aunt bleached her hair red and blond, and everyone thought it was natural. So dear, do not fret. I am sure there is a lot of that out there. Thanks for all your responses on my posts today. I am trying to catch up, as I will be off tomorrow and the next day.

My husband just likes to tease me about it and say that our boy is the milkman's! He is a jokester! I mean, my son looks like him exactly...there is no question he is the daddy! ;) Thanks for responding.

Hehhehe, your hubby likes to make you get mad, so you can make up. Hehhe, just kidding. I know he is fooling you. My uncle did that to my aunt, as well as the whole family.

My blonde, blue eyed baby is now 6 ft 7, has black hair, and his beard is definitely red. Eyes are hazel like his dad and me. His "little" sister is under 30, and has noticeable gray, hazel eyes as well.

Maybe the guy you slept with before your husband had blonde hair and blue eyes? They say however, that experiences during your pregrancy can help mark your babies birth. Like, my sister was frightened by a cat during her pregnancy, and her daughter came out with pretty much the same eyes as the cat, completely different from her parents. Anything similar happen to you?

My husband is the only one I have ever slept with. As for being frightened, nothing. The only thing is I had a rough pregnancy, we was a preemie, and he insisted on laying in the most painful positions possible while in my belly.

Yes, but there is no blonde hair or blue eyes on either of our sides of family. I mean, my mom's hair is blonde but she bleached it that way. We all have black or auburn hair. Thanks for responding.

My son is taking after my father a lot. He is really long so he is going to be pretty tall. He's got big feet to poor thing! And he has definately got my husbands ears! They stick out quite a bit, he's always pulling on them and I say he needs to stop or the kids will call him dumbo. My boy just laughs about that though. Thanks for responding.

My husband and I have dark hair, and hazel eyes. My son was born blond, blue eyed. People asked about this, and did not hear that my husband's brother was a blue eyed blonde, and my sister was a blue eyed blonde. I finally just answered the question "Where did he get his blonde hair?" by saying, I ordered it from Sears Roebuck (now just Sears). We could laugh then. My sister in law always told people that her kids had red hair because she ate a lot of wheat germ when pregnant. I do not know how that relates, but that is what she said.

That is funny. I guess my boy has blonde hair because I ate so much pineapple when I was pregnant then! hehe ;) thanks for responding.

That happens sometimes. My neice is same way. She is so cute and fair in complexion but niether my brother nor his wife are that fair. Now, my niece is almost 5 years old but neither of her parents match with her. That's all gods creation and we cannot pre/post determine it.

Blonde hair and blue eyes are both recessive genes as well. So you and your hubby could both have passed the recessive gene to your baby boy!!
