Is religion a branding business? My brand is better than your brand, come and join my brand, otherwise you have a lot of punishments, and the worst thing is "in hell". What do you think?

I see religion as a form of control. Ill take you through the phases of control that we are put through to mentally imprison our selfs. First when we are too young to understand the concept of heaven and hell we are introduced to the figure "Santa clause" (or whatever your religion states)we are told the he knows what we are doing at every waking minute of the day and even what we are thinking! This is because as children we can only understand rewards and punishment. As we get older we are introduced to a all knowing being who can also control out fate. Instead this time he decides if we have been good or bad judging by everything that we have done in our entire life. He like Santa Clause knows what we have done every minute of every day and even what we are thinking. If we have been bad our whole life we are told that we are going to hell. A horrible place where we will suffer until the end of time. However if we are good we will go to heaven. A peaceful place where we will unlike hell be happy forever. You can probably all ready see why I strongly believe that religion is a form of control. Thank you to whom ever has read this. And I'm sorry if this offended anyone.
