Christmas alone etc...

What do you out there all reckon about Christmas? A lot of people just end up feeling like complete losers if they have to spend the day alone. Would it upset you to spend it alone? Is it just a social thing we're buying into where we are SUPPOSED to be surrounded by tons of loving family on the day and get heaps of presents? Is that really what it's all about? Why do more suicides, acts of domestic violence and general misery seem to occur at this time of year than any other? Half the people who struggle financially to pay for Christmas don't even believe in it anyway. Social pressure again. Sometimes I don't like having Christmas with my entire extended family (which there is pressure to do every year) because there are often fights and jealousy and certain members buy too many presents and make everyone else feel inadequate and on and on and on... and all the kids eat too many chocolates and end up bouncing off the walld and my Uncle Bill always gets drunk and makes an idiot of himself (and embarasses my Aunty). I'm not meaning to sound like the Grinch or anything, but sometimes I truly do wonder about it all.

Yeah, so do I (even though the family politics is tough at times), but that wasn't my point. I'm talking about the people who DON'T have any friends or family to spend Christmas with and how society seems geered towards making people feel like total tossers if they're in that situation.
