Best way to prolong Digital Camera

Hi all, do you have any ways on how to prolong a Digital camera life? Are there better ways of handling it? Or using the popular Dry box? Please share on how you protect your camera.

I am very careful with my camera and use rechargeable batteries and always keep the covers on. I carry it in a case and it helps alot
