is it possible to fall in love with a celebrity you barely know in person?

This may sound stupid but I really need honest opinions.I have a friend who's very much into celebrities these days.It's probably because we have been spending too much time in front of the television lately.We've just graduated from college and are still waiting for our professional licenses to be released.Few months ago, we went on an all-girl's night out and found out after a few drinks that her celebrity crush was sitting in a table next to us.Since she really is beautiful and witty, she caught the guy's attention without even saying a word.He then approached us and introduced himself, not that we didn't know who he was.They started talking and even held hands until he left for he still had a plane to catch.They've been in constant communication through phonecalls and sms since then.A week later, we went to see one of his shows. He and my friend ended up going back to the hotel and oh you know what happens next.They were still sending sms few weeks after that.But now, the guy stopped communicating with her and started flirting with others.She's obviously hurting but i can't seem to understand how she could fall in love with someone she had only met twice....????
