This time of year there are many songs out to celebrate Christmas and the religious holiday. Some of them can be very beautiful and can be admired even if you aren't Christian.
One of my favorites is a song that Trish Yearwood does, written by Skip Ewing, called "It Wasn't His Child." It's a song that tells the story from Joseph's point of view. Not something that is very common to hear about. It actually deals with more then just Christmas but is mainly played this time of year. You can read the lyrics here: http://lyrics.astraweb.com/display/67/trisha_yearwood..sweetest_gift..it_wasnt_his_child.html
So are there any Christmas songs you love to hear, sing to or what have you this time of year? That you'd like whether or not you follow the religion? If so what is it and why?

I don't know the last one at all but sounds funny. I love Do You Hear What I Hear. That is one of my favorites as well. Amazing how many favorites one can have isn't it? That one though I have heard some bad versions of it usually done by good singers just not right ones for that song.

i like these songs
two of my favs are
Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock
Jingle bells swing and jingle bells ring
Snowing and blowing up bushels of fun
Now the jingle hop has begun
Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock
Jingle bells chime in jingle bell time
Dancing and prancing in Jingle Bell Square
In the frosty air.
What a bright time, it's the right time
To rock the night away
Jingle bell time is a swell time
To go gliding in a one-horse sleigh
Giddy-up jingle horse, pick up your feet
Jingle around the clock
Mix and a-mingle in the jingling feet
That's the jingle bell,
That's the jingle bell,
That's the jingle bell rock
and other is
Frosty the Snowman, was a jolly happy soul,
With a corncob pipe and a button nose, and two eyes made of coal.
Frosty the Snowman, is a fairytale, they say.
He was made of snow, but the children know he came to life one day.
There must have been some magic in that old silk they found,
For when they placed it on his head, he began to dance around!
Oh, Frosty, the Snowman, was a live as he could be;
ans the children say he could laugh and play,
just the same as you and me.
Thumpety thump, thump, thumpety thump, thump,
look at Frosty go.
Thumpety thump, thump, thumpety thump, thump,
over the hills of snow.
Frosty the Snowman, knew the sun was hot that day,
so he said, "Let's run, and we'll have some fun now, before I melt away."
Down to the village, with a brooomstick in his hand,
Running here and there, all around the square,
sayin', "Catch me if you can."
He led them down the streets of town, right to the traffic cop;
and only paused a moment, when he heard him holler, "Stop!"
For Frosty, the Snowman, had to hurry on his way,
But he waved goodbye, sayin' "Don't cry, I'll be back again some day."

Oh that is one of mine as well. I always liked Frosty. As a kid I made snowmen and when I was really young I couldn't understand why they didn't come to life either. Oh well we all grow up, still when you don't know any better it's a nice time in life.

Ok haven't heard the Hannukah song at all but I admit I'm not a big Adam Sandler fan. I know I'm strange. The others I know and I do enjoy them. I have them on a CD I made with a variety of Christmas Songs.
If you like funny Christmas songs try "Rusty Cheverolet" I'm not sure who sings it but it's one that makes you smile.

Grandma Got Run over by a raindeer I think is now a classic. It's a great song. Elmo and Patsy did a great job with that one. Of course they now have a cartoon Christmas Special based off it.

Along with all of the traditional Christmas songs, the one song I really like is "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer". I love how it just adds a little humor to the holidays.
My favorite line is, "You may say there's no such thing as Santa, but as for me and grandpa we believe".

I've never heard of that one but it sounds cute. I love the Little Drummer Boy. That is a great song. Of course the best rendition I heard of it was when Bing Crosby and David Bowie sang it together. That was a unique pairing.

Oh I understand. When I was growing up my father worked in retail. He had a strict rule in the house that there could not be any Christmas music played till the week before Christmas. He would hear it all day long and he didn't want it there as well. The stores and many other work places do have a tendency to start playing them a tad early in my opinion.
See if you can find the 12 Pains of Christmas. It's at least a funny one that will make you smile to listen to.
