What's the deal with kids wearing their pants below their butts?

Yep...just another teenage fad...my son does it too...and I am constantly telling him to pull up his pants! I think it may have originated in jail...or from kids running away from the law and thier pants started falling down so now it is cool....lol...

Actually it was started by the police officers. They convinced the bad guys to wear their jeans low like that for a reason. When they are running away, the jeans fall down, the crook falls down and bam they are caught. Seriously though it was interesting to find out how it really started. I myself think it looks silly. I am 31 though so i'm old lol. You know you're getting old when you start to complain about kids fashion.

I do not understand how this trend came to be as well. Is it because that it is hip to bare your body and show more flesh? I fing suchs pants obscene, in bad taste and just very simply a fashion trend gone wrong.

I hate it and am always telling my kids to pull them up. The high school is even giving detention under the dress code if they don't wear them properly. It is suppossed to be cool and has been linked back to gangs.

thats a ridiculous way to wear your pants and fashion is all nuts and has been that way for a long while.well i am young but certainly do not wear my pants in the way you had suggested nor would anyone in my area.we would always be wondering whether our pants would fall down in the middle of a public area.i guess when they fall,they truly fall hard,don't they?

I'm not sure where this originated from...but I'm of the opinion that you can't stop teenage kids from doing any fashion they like. So I guess we'll just have to stay put and keep watching (and enjoying;)). Hopefully, its gonna end at some point in the future like every fashion does, and some new one will emerge.

well, i should say, that's a really good fashion to keep up with, i personally use that on weekends. it makes a lot of things easier to do::, ok jokes apart, well fashion is continously changing and also the competition so there is no wonder that this fashion also exists. levis has already introduced its dangerously low waist jeans especially for girls and we already see thousands of them wearing on the streets. also,comparitively this type of fashion is far more better than other stupid and crazy fashion trends which no body will ever even try to do....

yes even i heard of this issue and iu think it has been a latest fashion among the gals to look hot and sexy and thats y they are wearing pants below there butts

i think it shows that the kids dont care about how they look.it is a sign of low self esteem and sloppiness.the other thing that bugs me is short dresses on preteen and teen girls.i am roman catholic and at our parish the girls up to 17 wear the traditional white infant type baptism outfits for easter vigil,group and private baptisms.their outfits consist of a poofy infant style dress,bonnet,lace cuff socks or tights and buckle type shoes.under their dresses they wear a cloth diaper.plastic pants and under shirt.the baptism dresses are supposed to be knee length or just below.many of the teen girls in the 14 to 17 year old range push the limits to the max and wear mid thigh length or shorter baptism dresses.if the teen girls are wearing the lace socks their diaper and plastic pants can be seen when they bend over to receive the water on their heads.the girls who wear the tights,the diaper and plastic pants bulge can be seen under their tights.i have seen this many times at baptisms of teen girls and feel it is very in appropriate and a mockery of the sacrement of baptism.it appalls me that their parents let them wear their dresses that short.i just cant believe they would let their diaper and plastic pants show like that.not all girls tho wear the short dresses,most abide by the knee length policy.the same thing is done with the communion dresses also.the teen girls wear them shorter and it looks hidious.the girls baptized at easter vigil make first holy communion a month later and some wear their baptism dresses as their communion dresses with a veil.the baptism diaper and plastic pants is worn under the communion dresses also.i dont know what these girls are thinking wearinf immodest dresses like that.

My son is only 10 and wants to have his pants hanging down.Then he says the jeans has to 2 times bigger.Im like what in da world.I dont let him wear his pants pass his butt but his pants are big but he wears a belt!

I think it un called for. I know kids have fads they go through, but there is no reason for them to wear their pants quite that low.

theres nothing wrong with you wearing a pants below their butts. its fashion its a natural way to follow what is the best form of fashion every year. so theres nothing bad about that. is just that they want to show you their undies.

hey ppl this is nothing wrong .. fashion keeps on changing and this is one of them. old fashions go way nad new fashions come in. when this style gets old new one will come so dont worry and be happy

It is so annoying when I see one with the pants below the butt... I either want to go and pull up their pants or pull them off completely... I do not see the point in this "fashion"... It's kinda stupid...
