Have you seen those glass cubes with a little statue or something made with bubbles from a laser. well if the laser only heats up a point inside the glass cube then could it heat up a point anywhere in space. if so. could you take a few hundred of these lasers and make sure that each one heats up a point right on top of the one previous all the way till you have somethign that would resemble a cutting tool? Or does it take too long to heat up?

The idea is intriguing. But it is still hard to control the light direction to heat-up a certain point unless you are using laser or destructive beam. The turning point must be a mirror or refractive glass. In the correct combination, a cutting tool or 'light saber' (like those in star war) could be formed. But the difficult part is to produce the structure of light turning point. I believe one day, we will be able to make it with more advanced technology.
