Do you volunteer?

I was wondering who does volunteer work, what it is, and why they chose it. I teach a pregnancy and parenting class in my city, because I have a passion for children. You?

I currently volunteer doing some writing for the social work department of a hospital. I used to volunteer in the emergency room of another hospital. I also do occasional work for a group that helps out my local library, and for some local cultural organizations.

That sounds like interesting work. I was a volunteer EMT for a while in high school, emergency work is pretty exciting and stressful!

I don't currently volunteer due to the fact that I just moved to a city that I know absolutely no one in. in my younger years i used to volunteer at old folks homes with my church.

That's actually why I started volunteering. My husband and I moved to a new city, and as I didn't want to get a job right away so I could be home with our daughter, I found a place to volunteer so I could meet people... and talk to adults once in a while!
