Tara Conner will keep her crown for the time-being, with some strings attached.
Miss USA, Tara Conner, will keep her crown and enter rehabilitation. Donald Trump believes in second chances. She'll move back into her apartment today. "Tara is going to be the great Comback Kid" he said.
Trump says, after speaking to her for some time this morning, "she made some very, very bad choices. . .some of those mistakes were bad mistakes. . ."
But Trump was impressed after talking to her that she understands the problem, "She got caught up in the whirlwind that was New York..."
"I believe in second chances. . . and Tara is going to be given a second chance. . ."
Saying young people have a tough time nowadays with drugs and alcohol readily available, Trump claims that Ms. Conner understands that one slight misstep will cost her her crown. "She's a good person. . . if she weren't a good person, I wouldn't have done this. . . "
Conner, who has previously used her Miss U.S.A. role to educate about breast cancer, plans to now use her experience to influence other young people dealing with substance abuse. "I believe she will be an amazing example." She will be undergoing periodic drug tests during her tenure.
Conner, in a tearful address to the crowd, said she never dreamt she would walk out today with her crown intact. Thanking Donald Trump profusely, along with the Miss Universe organization, she said, "I've had a very big blessing bestowed upon me today..." She promised publicly to be the "best Miss U.S.A. you have ever seen". Apologizing for shame she brought to the organization and her family, she thanked the crowd for coming, and said she was anxious to get back to her job as Miss U.S.A.
I do agree that Trump will have to do some tapdancing and spinning to make sure the right message is sent out. But I think a second chance for someone who is repentant and has potential is a good thing, and IS a message we need to send in this overly-judgemental society we're in.
Whats your thoughts on this, should she keep it or should she have lost it.

I think she should have lost it. She's suppose to be a role model. If I want to look up to someone who's an underage drinker and party animal I'll look up to Lindsay Lohan. I don't buy her excuse of getting caught up in NYC and the moment.
With that said, if she really has a problem I do hope she gets the help she needs.

She's human and made a mistake. As long as she's learned from it, I won't wish her any ill will.
