I started listening to The Cure when I was about seven or eight. It had been on my brothers boom box as he was putting on eye liner and ratting his freshly black dyed hair up. I loved it, my once high school brother getting dressed up for school!
My brother was a father figure in the household because we didn't have a dad, so I looked up to him for inspiration back in those days. When he moved out, I held on to my brothers kind advice and his love for The Cure. I grew up collecting Robert Smith items such as posters, cassette tapes and when they came out my first CD Disenagration. I didn't bother reading about Robert Smith at the time because I "thought" I knew about him well enough to know every line in all his songs.
Two years ago, I was playing The Cure for my newly found boyfriend who knows everything (well just about). He started collecting articles for me about Robert Smith. I am now in the process of learning about his crazy fun life. He had no intentions of being famous. Robert Smith had severe depression and mood swings. He even helped out Soixie and the Banshees. Things I didn't know that just excite me to love his music more.

My fiance was really into them too. He knows all this useless stuff like what kind of hairspray they use and the gum Robert Smith liked to chew, etc etc.
I like their music but I don't know all that much about Robert Smith's personal life.

I'm just getting into the music now.
I absolutely love it. I recently bought Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me. What an eclectic mix of songs! From 'The Snakepit' to 'Just Like Heaven' to 'Hot Hot Hot!!!'. You can compeletely see how Robert Smith transformed music. He's the coolest man alive too!
Quick tip though, did you know that Robert Smith actually sings all lead vocals on the re-release of The Glove (the collaboration with Soixie)? Worth looking into yet I haven't been able to find it.

He was in Siouxsie and the Banshees for a short time, heh. That's why they sound a bit similar in some songs.
Robert Smith is a lyrical genious. Some songs are so simple but they sound so complicated. He's amazing, heh.

The Cure is one of my favorite bands, and I love learning little things about Robert Smith. Probably my favorite bit of Robert Smith trivia is that he wrote "Love Song" as a wedding present for his wife, Mary. He and Mary have been together since they were in school (grade school, I think).
