Copying articles

Why is it that so many people seem to think it's okay to either start a discussion with what is a blatent copy and paste of someone elses hard work or use an entire article (or part of) in a response without giving any credit to the original author?
I have several articles on a variety of topics floating around the internet and with each submission I happily give others permission to use said articles as long as the relevant resource boxes, links or credit etc is given. And I for one would be devastated if I found someone using one of my articles and basically claiming it as their own words to start their own discussion for the sake of a few cents.
As far as I can tell this is not only a breach of myLots rules it can also get the person using the article in a lot of trouble and the few cents they earn for doing it would be nothing compared to what it may cost them.
If they find an article (news item etc) and they want to discuss it surely it's not too hard to digest the information and then start a discussion in your own words?

yeah.. but then, i guess that's one area in which myLot scores.. you can report abuse and go for the kill, as you've already been doing.. though it does get difficult to track down who's been copying on a regular basis..

I have seen people copy and paste articles too. But I am taking the time to report them to Mylot and also giving them a negative rating! ;) I hope that you have reported anyone you see doing this? I hope you also reported the people you saw copy your discussions?? :) It will help mylot!

Thanks for the response and yes I have been reporting them for copying the articles - I think what riles me more than anything (aside from them scamming to get a few extra cents) is the knowledge that someone else worked hard to produce their article and it's not right that others are taking credit for it.
Oh and I've never had anyone copy my discussions (hmm wonder what that says about the quality of my discussions? :-) )

I think (and I could be wrong) that you can copy/paste small snippets provided you add the link directing where it came from.
I truly can't imagine them allowing people to just copy entire articles etc - not only is it a way to cheat myLot of money - but it can open up a whole other can of worms when it comes to things like plagiarism and copyright etc.

I would say from what I can understand if the originator of the article gives permission to copy it people can but they need to include the source where they got it. Some are copywritten and should not be copied without permission - doing otherwise is plagerism and will get people banned from mylot.
