How do you feel about paying the ATM fees? Too much or don't mind paying?

I think it is ridiculous that we have to pay a fee for using a ATM machine of another bank. It shouldn't cost us anything or very little. What is the most you have been charged? How do you feel about these ATM fees?

If it's your bank, then they don't charge. However, if you try to use a different bank, or an ATM machine that is not owned by your bank, then the owner of the ATM charges you. Then so does your bank for using someone else's ATM machine. The banks were actually double-dipping in that you ended up paying TWO ATM fees instead of one. I haven't kept up with the latest on it, but laws ended up being passed in some areas that made it illegal for banks to charge ATM fees. In response, banks changed things so that you were only able to use your bank to withdraw cash. At least, that was the last I heard. Thing is, it does end up adding up with both banks charging you for one withdrawl.

It really stinks being double charged and am going to stop using other ATMs as much as possible to avoid those extra fees. I wish they would pass a law here to stop these ATM fees.

I think that's because of the difference between different banks. If u cashier at ur credit card bank ATM, u will be charged nothing. Why? Doesn't it have cost? Of course it has, but why the bank don't charge u for that. Because u use their cards.

I have seen some places that charge $1 fee and some that charge $3 or $4 fees. Obviously I try to stick with my bank but it is not always possible.

The horrible thing is...not only do you pay a fee to the bank that you are withdrawing from, but you also pay an addition fee to your own bank for withdrawing from another bank! So it basically cost five bucks to get money out of the bank! Why? Money hungry people finding ways to charge you for something else because they are offering "Free checking". But it is only free if you meet certain criteria. But they know we are at their mercy of we are to have the check direct deposited or to save ourselves from paying a check cashing fee....let along any money order fees that one would have to pay bills with if we did not have a checking account. So many fees!!!

I think its very silly to be charged to use an ATM. Which is why I try and not use them. If I do...I of course try to use my bank, which isn't very common, so its kind of hard. So instead I get cash bank at a store if I can. lol

The banks are ripping us off I think. They make enough money and do not need to charge us fees. Some banks are worse than others with their charges. They do add up on our statements.

I think if I need to go to an ATM ..I usually go to my bank's ATM..there are not any fees..but then when you need money who worries about the small fee?

I have never paid a fee for using an ATM machine. I always use the appropriate machines and withdraw cash at no charge, and I would go out of my way to visit the right machine. The fees are not very high, but I resent the idea of paying the bank for the right to draw my money out. The same principle applies to credit cards. I use them for convenience rather than carry too much cash around, but always pay the full balance at the month end. I have still never paid interest on a credit card and due to previously having a "cash back" card I have even made a profit on the use of them.

I have an atm at the COOP. I pay monthly fee of $3 canadian dollars for 4 transactions on the atm and 1 full transaction in the bank. This is Ok for me, since I don't do much on the banks anyway. I don't pay all the bills. My income is all mine LOL! To be honest, it's my husband who pay all the bills.

i think that it is just reasonable for the other bank to charge a fee but in a minimal amount for their services and other miscellaneous expense, they charge around two to three and fifty centavos for balance inquiry and eleven pesos for withdrawals, i feel that these fees are justified enough.

they shouldnt be charging us at all, for several reasons 1. they are saving a lot of money by reducing their staff strength. 2. they are saving money because they dont have to set up their own atm at that place, they can use other bank's atm. 3. they dont have to start a branch at that area since there is an atm. 4. other banks have to pay them when their customers use their atm, so it evens out a lot. so the conclusion is, the banks are together in this to fleece money out of all the customers.
