Why is it so important for young people to receive a good arts education?

I don't know if art education is for everyone. But, a good education is good for everyone, so they can function and offer themselves to the world and do well and be happy.

Who said it's important? I recieved no such education.

It is extremely important for everyone to have a good arts education. Art is used to express opinions and emotions that are otherwise not possible through simple conversation. Art makes you think. It makes you see the world through another person's perspective. Art is an important tool for all cultures to express their feeling to the world. Having a good arts education will help you recognize the different art forms out there and understand them and appreciate them more. I finished a college art class recently. It opened my eyes to the incredible world of art both past and present. I used to hate going to museums. Now I can spend a whole day just looking and examining fine art pieces.
