Watch movies and get some ideas. Your proposal should be unique. You know how your girl is so you're the best person to plan the proposal. My favorite proposal scenes would be that of "A Walk to Remember" and "The Wedding Planner" (where the Italian guy proposed to JLo.) just simply go and say it on her face that you like her and want to be friends so that you would know each other well. now-a-days girls like straight forwardness.

take her out to a fancy resturaunt, have a nice expensive meal, and whilst having coffee after the food, pull out the ring box, look her in eyes for a few seconds, smile, then get down on one knee, open the box and pop the question.
