I'm low in cash this season and would appreciate some ideas for presents that won't cost me lot of money but still convey an I-care-about-you message. I'm a bit of a Photoshop freak, and I was thinking of doing personalized portraits for all my friends and family. But Christmas is only a week away and I haven't actually started (work intervened). Do you have any other ideas? Is there a home project that I can complete in a couple of days? What items can I easily personalize? I'm frantically looking for ideas here and I would really appreciate your help.

as long as what you get comes from the heart it shouldn't matter what you get them. they will still love you.

that's true. :-) still, though, it would be great if i can make them happy in my own little way.

I do a lot of inexpensive, homemade gifts. I bake a lot of things, and I customize old Barbie dolls. That can be a great gift, if you're artistic. I redo their hair and make-up and sew them new clothes, usually made to look like TV or book characters. Like a friend of mine is a huge fan of the Harry Potter Books, and the Malfoys in particular. So I made her a Narcissa Malfoy doll.

Wow! I bet your friends are all excited to see what's up your sleeve this year. Unfortunately, I'm not as artistic. I also don't have the time to do any of these things. :-(
