why aren't parachutes on commercial air planes?

Is it dumb, but I wonder why the dont hav parachutes on airplanes, so pople could get out or make it were a section that the people in turn into a pod that can parachute to ground.

because:
A) commercial planes fly above the weather where there is little oxygen and extremelly cold so if you jumped out you would die
B) planes fly very fast ansd the forces in place when you jump out would also most likely kill you

Not to mention the point that thundercat made above! The airline would be leaving themselves wide open for law suits when 90% of the people who actually managed to get around point A and B and make it to the ground, landed in the ocean and drowned, crashed into some building or simply crashed into the ground! lol And this is of course assuming that the airline would go to the cost of maintaining all of these parachutes and other gear (it isn't as cheap as you would think)!
