I see what has already been suggested, and I was going to suggest something that has the same effect as a nasal rinse but is portable. Go to the local Wal Mart and buy a saline nasal spray. If you buy the store brand, they are cheap. My doctor recommends them for cold and allergy symptoms. When my husband used to get nose bleeds he recommended it then as well, ten times a day. The principle is that you use it frequently to rinse the allergens out before they get to your sinuses to cause irritation. I have a friend who has had the surgery twice, and she uses both the saline spray and the neti pot to keep from having the situation recur. It is generally thought that humming and singing help keep your sinuses clear as well, but she is an excellent singer, and still has this problem. So she rinses. I keep a saline spray in my purse, one in the downstairs medicine cabinet, and one buy my bed. I put one in my overnight bag that I always take on trips. It is one of my favorite over the counter treatments. Good luck.
