I guess the world has to go on no matter what? People still get sick, so hospitals can not close and my husband works in a prison? You can't hardly let the prisoners go for the holidays and expect them to come back!

With so many people in the world, it does not surprise me that some have to work on Christmas Eve. Do you have Christmas day off Dee? Think of those people that work in healthcare that need to work to care for those who cannot be home on Christmas. Enjoy the time you do have off Dee. Huggers. Merry Christmas!

Oh yes I know, but ever since I opened my business they have been calling me stranger! I do the best I can to get to functions, but my business is small and I can't afford to hire anyone right now to take any time off.

Yeh I have Christmas day off. I was just feeling sorry for myself. I know that some people will have to work both days. I feel for them. I will enjoy the time I have off, thanks. It's just that Christmas eve is when we exchange gifts with our kids and grandkids. Oh well we can do it later in the evening. Merry Christmas to you!

I actually don't have to work this christmas. But being a nurse I have worked 9 out of 10 christmases over the past 15 or so years. I found it better to work the day shift as you can go home and have a drink and a relax but sometimes I worked evening shift and that is no fun as you are constantly watching the clock for when you have to go and get ready for work. I hope you have a nice day at work anyway. Merry christmas!!

Good for you! I am glad you finally got one off! My little brother is an RN too and sometimes I don't know how he can handle the hours he puts in? Have a very Merry Christmas! Have a drink for me! :) I work in retail and will probably sit there and twiddle my thumbs all day! Thanks for the response.

I would, but honey I am the boss. I own my own small business and have nobody working for me, I can't afford that yet, and have to stay open for business hours or have people get angry and lose business, which I can not afford to do, so this is my situation. Business or pleasure, what do I give up? I know alot of people never realize this dilema, but it is rough for small business people too. We don't have anyone to take over for us when we want to go to a family function or stay home because of the roads, etc. Merry Christmas to you and God Bless.

i'll be spending my xmas eve in the hospital as i am unfortunately on 24hrs duty this day. so sad! so i'll be spending my time w/ patients, nurses & other doctors. my xmas celebration will begin on 25, when i'll be too tired from duty to do anything except eat xmas food & sleep. pathetic huh? need to cheer up! i'll be receiving a bonus anyway! lol=)
