Have you ever wondered how different the anatopeyas for animal sounds are in different countries/languages/cultures? mmm probably no, neither do I. But I find it interesting. Here there are a few examples. Chicken: Spanish: kikirikí English: cock-a-doodle-doo French: cocorico Korean: kko-kki-yo Portuguese (portugal): cocorococo Russian: ku-ka-re-ku Cat: Spanish: miau English: meow French: miaou Korean: (n)ya-ong Greek: niaou Dog: Spanish: guau guau English: bow wow, arf, woof, ruff ruff French: ouah ouah Portuguese: au au Korean: mung-mung Frog: Spanish (Spain): cruá-cruá Spanish (Argentina): berp Spanish (Peru): croac, croac Japanese: kerokero Korean: gae-gool-gae-gool
