"Bended knee" is a form of a bow, signifying him submitting to her grace when proposing marriage. When making a bow you only bend one knee. agree??

It goes back to the old 'white and shinning knight' thing. Knights were knighted on one knee, it showed their devotion and loyalty to their Sire so when you go down on one knee to your ladylove your telling that you'll be loyal and devoted to her forever. Hope that helps, Happy Holidays.
