How much we make on mylot...

So, the last two days I was testing out the "get paid more for longer responses theory". It's true! The myth, fable, or legend is true. I only responded to one post a day and the first day I wrote a three word response to a discussion and made nothing... Yesterday I posted a two paragraph response with 9 full sentences, and made 4 cents! I'm not exactly sure how they decipher exactly how much to give to you, but the more you write, the more you make!

I always try to write a quality response. Hopefully this will help me with mylot. I only respond to discussions that I can provide an actual answer for. I have wondered if this helps me or not. Thank you for testing this for the rest of us also.

Yeah, it's been bugging me ever since I joined this site! I thought that this was the only way to settle it, so I thought everyone would like to hear my findings!

Well Thank you for taking the time to conduct this test. I have not figured out what mylot pay's for picture's, post, or starting discussion's. The most I've made here is $2.24 in one day. And the least is .01 cent. That was discouraging.

I really don't know about that, but it is up to you to test those out... I did only post one picture the first time I did and it gave me 4 cents...

I have done a similar experiment with regard to commenting on responses to my discussions. I took the time one day to do nothing but comment on my responses with a couple of sentences. Just by commenting on 10 responses I made 17 cents. It took me roughly 10 minutes or 1 minute per comment to make the 17 cents. I also took the past two weeks and did nothing on myLot while good responses kept coming to my discussions. I made 2 cents during my week of inactivity. So the important thing here is to be active whether it is in your discussions or in the discussions of others.

Very informative! I haven't tried it with the comments, but I try to answer all of them, unless by the 80th one it's the same as others that people submitted...

It gets tough once you get more then 5 or 6 pages of responses to you discussion. It gets even tougher when you have a bunch of good responses that all say the same thing. I try to make each reply unique, so sometimes I don't comment on my responses because I don't want to sound unoriginal.

That's the tricky part, saying the same thing you said to forty other people, but still make it have a slightly different spin... I don't know why it's that important, but it sure feels like it is!

Thank you for testing this. I wasn't quite sure how the payment system worked either. I give you credit for being able to post to only one discussion and sit and wait for the outcome. I've become addicted to this site and have been posting more and more every day.

Haha! No problem, I figured someone had to do it! I also was really busy with work and had little spare time for those couple days! Keep it up!

That is awesome!!! I am glad that you actually checked out the theory to prove that it is in fact true!! I am sure that this information will help alot of us mylotians out! It is nice to have proof this way we know that it is a fact and is no longer fiction!!

Well indeed that is the case. Moreover they can see the relevance of what you write because of tag words being used.If your response is relevant to a topic you will use eventually tags that are being mentioned so the algorithm will recognise the good relevance of your response. So for mylot it is not only the more you write but the good i.e. quality you respond.

Hmmm... I didn't know the tag words made a difference... I never really use them on my responses!

It is true. The more you write, the more money you earn per post. Mylot obviously wants its users to build up content on the site, and the way that is done is by having good quality discussions and hopefully good and useful information to attract visitors. The more that is written, the more we all get paid. Besides, it is much better when we get good quality responses to the discussions that we put up. It makes it more worthwhile when you take the time to write a good and interesting discussion. SO I agree with you. Thanks for this posting--I think it's helpful. Good luck to all mylot users.

I do what I can... I really am not on here to make 4 cents a post, but I hope this will inspire a few more people to answer questions more thoroughly!

Well the whole thing is you can answer only what is relevant pertaining to the question asked, for example if someone asks what is your height then naturally your answer will be a small one. So length of answers depend upon the discussions topic.

I'm not sure this is exactly a good thing, because now you see the convoluted stories people are posting that are probably made up just to earn more money. I agree quality if important, but feel that rewarding for long posts isn't necessarily a good idea. Don't worry though, I think responses of 3-5 words should earn negative money to teach those people lol.

I agree, I try not to get too far off the point, but sometimes it happens and thats when you get those long posts... I think it will all work out!

I would just like to express my thanks to you for fully testing out this theory! I was certain that it was true, because I have a referral who has posted a fair bit and has earned about half of what I have. I seem to earn close to 2 cents per post, and I am fairly wordy (generally). *laugh* I can't believe that you made 4 cents for one post! I can't seem to make over 3 cents for one post, unless I am making that much on some and not knowing it, and making far far less on others. I just know that my average is about 2 cents per post. Anyway, I really appreciate the work that you have done on the behalf of the Mylot community!^_^

I noticed the same type of thing as you know there are a lot of people who post how much they made and how many responses they've done, and most of the time I'll say to myself I had more when I was there!

That makes me want to start typing...lol. Yeah yesterday I started four discussions and only replied to a few. I made three times as much as I did the day before when I only responded to others discussions. I don't really get how theybase their pay but there are definetly tricks to the trade.

I don't think they base it just on length... I think they base it on context of what was written and relevance as well... If all three are there and you get a plus or two your going to make some big pocket change lol!

So the number of wordsis considered in calculating the earnings.4 cents for a post is actually a good payment.but it is not always possible to write more sentences for a discussion.but i am earning on an average of 3 cents for a post.

Well that's a good thing to know, and to know for sure. And, yes, (this is from my understanding and not from directly testing and monitoring actual input) I'm told that it does improve earnings when someone marks you + or -. Now that I think about it, I guess that I COUDN'T test it unless I have a cohort, since I don't show + or - on my own inputs and (of course) couldn't rate my own replies.

I think maybe they do it on purpose... Then they can give us whatever they want and we'll be okay with it lol! Maybe we'll never truly know, unless they tell us in an alert or something!

I wondered the same thing because the first time I posted a discussion, I only received a penny. That is why I wrote a disscussion titled "A Penny Only." I only get a penn for my thoughts? But, as it turns out, like you found, the more descrptive discussion and responses you have, the more earnings you will receive.
