Money As A Gift

Have you ever given money as a Christmas present or as a gift to anyone?
People in my family seem to think that giving money is the kiss of death around the holidays but I really think it's the opposite. If you give someone a card and money, it's nice to be able to let them pick out something they really wanted, as opposed to maybe a gift that they'd never use.

To be honest I'd much rather someone gave me money than to give me something I wouldn't want, or wouldn't use, it would then gather dust or be filed somewhere and never used. If someone doesn't know what to buy me then money is very welcome so I can then spend it on something I WANT! Besides if someone buys something you don't want its a total waste of money, so I fully agree with you.

My Mum seems to think that too but recently she's started giving my vouchers (she refuses to give money) which is good! I love going around with vouchers because you end up with a present you wanted and no cash was involved.
It makes it seem more like they gave you something.
I find if someone gives me money I spend it on food ahha but its nice all the same.

I do give money to the older children (19 & 21) to buy their own presents, I learnt long ago that they are very fussy, so I let them choose their own things.
The younger ones in the family get presents from santa. ;) and santa does not leave money!
