As far as the music, I like Dookie. As far as the meaning, I prefer American Idiot.

I would agree. But which would you choose: music or meaning?

I love all their music. I appreciate that they have a great style versatility. The music on Dookie is awesome, and I think in terms of music that is what I prefer. However, my political opinions are what drew me to them. They just say it all so well. If I have to choose music over political opinion I guess I choose the music because it makes me happy and politics just infuriate me. I like ALL the music but I think I listen to Dookie more anyway.

Indeed, Dookie has stood the test of time. It still sounds as fresh, energetic and fun as it did more than a decade ago.

I would prefer American Idiot... I just think the song is better, and can always be listend to. It has a catchy beat, and just gets stuck in your head.

Are you talking about "American Idiot" the song? I was referring to "American Idiot" the album :).

Dookie. American Idiot was a huge commercial success, and I'll admit I did go see them on the AI tour, but I'm all about older Green Day. Dookie and Nimrod are two of those CDs I could listen to all the way through.

hi paperbag.
give me dookie anytime over american idiot. i'm all for putting socially-relevant messages in songs but its not as much fun as the songs in dookie. i commend greenday for going that route and for doing what they can to support these worthy causes but i guess i prefer the happy-go-lucky, immature, fun greenday over the socially-relevant one.
that's just me though.
