How important is giving Tags

It is very important to give tags to your questions. I think a question gets associated with a tag and later when one answers any question and provide a tag to the answer the myLot system shows in the same page other relevant questions having similar tags. Thus even our dead questions can come alive. This is what I have understood. your views please.

I find Tags very helpful. And it can be a way for people to find our Posts we have have started. And if you Post a Tag with every discussion even if it takes a few extra seconds, I do feel it can help keep a Topic going for a little longer.
