The dreaded disease chikungunya recently spread Asia in general and India in particular by killing number of people started heading towards other parts of world.

Most of the people relate the dreaded viral decease "chikungunya " to innocent "Chickens". The fact is, Chikungunya is originated from the African Term "MAKONDE", meaning ' The thing that Bends ", the very symptom of Chikungunya attack.

The name is derived from the Makonde word meaning "that which bends up" in reference to the stooped posture developed as a result of the arthritic symptoms of the disease
