democracy....works on the principle that what the majority thinks is right...but is this the ideal case???...i mean , more often than not it is just an enforcement of policies of the larger number of people on the smaller number...this decision might not necessarily be right...there is no absolute rule that just because 6 out of 10 people believe something it is the truth....but not being judgemental...would like to listen to everyone's views on this.

well as in case of every system democracy too has its flaws and limitations . well its true that in democracy we impose the will of the majority on the minority but where is the suitable alternative . for example monarchy is the imposition of one persons wish over others . democratic system is a tried and tested system and we should stick to it cause at least majority has the say here and it includes people from all walks of live and every single people has the same right . hope to listen from others .

i do not agree that democracy is a tried and tested system....it might b the most prevalent, bu definitely not the most succesful...an industrious mind can well impose his wishes on others in a democratic setup also....opinions can b manipulated, votes can b formulated, bcos the essential human being doesnt strive towards the common good, burt personal good...

u cant possibly act on the views that each and every individual holds, bcause they can hold several economic and social policies. u cant imply all of them together at the same time. democracy takes into account what the majority thinks is right for that point of time and gives them a chance to review their view after a certain period of time.
this chance of expressing views and the ability to change the view sets democracy apart

You're right, of course. For instance very few of us have the knowledge to make major economic decisions, so all we are doing is voting for who we trust to make them for us. The best smile? Talks a good game? Good suit? That's why democracy does not work.
