Ask for best latest motherboard and processor.. 1 GB ram is more than enough.. 250 GB harddisk is the way to go..if ur having an internet connection( broadband) well DVD writer only if u want to back up a lot of data.. other wise go for ComboDrive... Lan card for internet, Floppy drive, Graphics card worth 3000-4000 is best to buy... Keybord and mouse can be wireless(Its cool)...17 inch LCD.. and CREATIVE 4.1 or 5.1 are the best......

p4 motherboard,p4 ghz is much for your processor, 512 memory(should support from your motherboard slot), geforce 8000 series with 128 higher video card. focus on this hardware.

Processor should be dual core with speed 3.0 GHz. RAM should be 1 GB or more. DVD writer is must. Hard Disk should be minimum 160 GB.
