If you read history you will find that people* who did most for the present world were precisely those who thought most of the next. It is since people* have largely ceased to think of the other world that they have become so ineffective in this.
-C. S. Lewis 1898-1963, British Academic, Writer, Christian Apologist-
I really love this words. Many people only think about the past and want to come back to the past..But, how many people think about the future, the eternity and the perfectness and make great impact, inventions for this present life and for the future? Do you want to discuss it with me?
*Lewis used the word "Christian", I change it with people for the universal of discussion..

That's great if you could see what Lewis means..I agree with you about Lewis. He has many great thoughts..He talked about the eternity and this present work. People rarely think about it, but he did..Thanks for the opinion. I really appreciate it.

That was my deepest wish to God, too. I thought I should have deserved better things than the neverending pain. Unfortunately my thought was based on the illusion that I am a good person by nature. Yes I did wrong here and there, but surely I wasn't that bad, was I? It was a total illusion.
God made me see me the way I truly am. A sinner that deserved severe punishment. Not only for the wrong I did, but also for the good I failed to commit.

I agree and disagree...=)
What we do in the present will of course have impacts to our future. But not all things that we do will have impacts on our future. I am referring to the sins committed by us that have been fully redeemed by Christ. Although we can still fall into sin, Christ' redemption has made it sure that His chosen ones will still be with Him one day.
I agree with Lewis. Our gaze on the future will impact our view on what we should do in the present. Without thinking about the future, it feels like no direction as to what we should do in this present time. Knowing what will be worthy in the eternity will shape how we will live our present life, what true values that we should carry and all.
One example, if we know that money will no longer be needed in the eternity, will we keep hold on to it like it is the breath of our life?

There's a wonderful verse in Ecclesiastes 3:11 "... He has also set eternity in their heart..." To me it's a token of how God loves us so. He enables us to see things from His perspective by setting eternity in our heart. Because to live in this world without seeing it through His perspective would be unspeakably devastating. We might all as well kill ourselves for not able to bear what this world has turned into. Even that will not solve our problems, will it?
