Thanks for the link to listen to it. My husband heard it last night and said that it was horrible but I didn't get to hear it.

Oh No! I haven't heard it but I shudder at the thought. Do you remember in the 90's when John Michael Montgomery kept redoing r&b songs. Ick!

Actually, from what I heard, All4One redid one of his songs, and the other one, they were both offered the song and released them at about the same time. I was partial to JMM's versions both times, most likely because of his dimples.

You wouldn't think it would be a good move on their part, but I think it has something to do with the song rights.

I'm sure that they sold rights to the song for the other singer to be able to sing it. Just can't figure out why they'd do it. The song is so big on its own right now, I'd think someone else doing a bad job on it would hurt not help hinder.

As if the studio version wasn't bad enough, I actually heard Jack do the song live the other night...XM Satellite Radio has an Alt Country/Americana channel, and they were broadcasting all the live performances from Music Fest at Steamboat Springs this past weekend. Among Friday Night's sets were Cross Canadian Ragweed (great band) and Jack Ingram, so I decided to record them on my MyFi.
I didn't think it was possible, but listening back, the live version of "Lips of an Angel" by Jack Ingram is MUCH worse than the studio version...The funny thing is, the rest of the performance sounded great; for some reason he just butchers that song but insists on not only singing it, but making it the lead single to promote his new CD coming out in March. I don't get it.

I don't think I want to even torture myself by listening to the live version.

I just listened or I should say tried to listen to it. I didn't make it thru the chorus. He did not come close to doing that song justice. I can't believe that it made it into the top 40 with him singing.

OMFG! How can they ruin such an awesome song! I like Hinder's version ten times better than this country stuff! Don't get me wrong, I sometimes listen to country but they shouldn't have done it to this song!

I'm so glad I haven't heard it!!!! I love that song! Kind of weird to take a current hit song and mess with it at the same time. UGH! LOL

I haven't heard it, but now that you have brought it up I'm going to download it and see what it's like. I hope he didn't turn it to crap! I love the original version, it is so pretty, and I think at some point in everyones life they've had a time when they were with someone but they've wanted to be with someone else. I can't picture the song being country. I hate when people change things. Some songs should just be left alone!

The original version is great, but it is just not right as a country song.

HI there, yeah i have heard that version already from Jack Ingram.
Well, his version is nice and i also like it, but i still prefer to listen more often to Hinder's Version of that song Lips of an Angel.
Have a nice day ahead from Kiko and happy posting and happy earnings here in Mylot.

I am sorry, but I have to disagree. Jack Ingram's version is so much better than Hinder's version! I guess you will will always like the first version better, but Jack's is better, hey someone needs to stand up for him!
