construction workers

My fieance is a construction worker. It's good money don't get me wrong but it's only good money if you get to work. If it's raining or if it's too cold or too hot or the wind is blowing or the sun is shining you don't get to work. Or atleast that's how I see it. His boss finds new ways to get out of work it seems he finds a new one almost every week. You can't live like that if you have kids. Does anyone elise in construction see these problems or is it just me. Should I be glad it's not worse. Do I have the right to be upset? Or am I just being a royal B?
Someone please let me know...Im going insane here.

I work as an Operations/Health & Safety Manager for a construction company in the UK. We do office refurbishment so most of our work is inside so the weather is not normally a problem.
What type of construction work does fieance do and is he self employed working for someone else or is he employed.
We may do things differently here but if I have a bit more information I might be able to think of something.

he is self employed and working through someone elice. If you can think of something please do.

My immediate thought is to get a new boss, he musst meet a lot of other construction workers on site, he could chat with them and find out what their bosses are like.
What type of construction work does he do?

and why would you say that...I'm looking for discussion in this field not just a quick answer. Respond with more to say. or you'll get a negative responce. Sorry but that's the way it is, I know it's hard, I see my fieance come in from it when he gets to work...I'm looking for a little more than what I know ... thanks...

Hi baby, I can't help you, you know I think he should get another job. I think his boss give the run around too much, but your boyfriend always sticks up for his boss.
