I think smoking is the main cause for lung cancer. My dad has lung cancer because he smoked 35 years.

Lung cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in the developed world. The vast majority over 80% of lung cancers are caused b smoking tabacco or by indirect exposure of tabacco smoke( passive smoking)The other main causes are breathing industrials chemical such as asbestos, arsenic, radioactive gas.

As far as I know smoking is the main cause of lung cancer. Also 'passive smoking' - breathing in second hand smoke from people smoking near you - is a bit cause of lung cancer. Other causes that I know of are asbestosis - having been exposed to asbestos fumes. Also maybe exposure to other harmful fumes such as working in a mine or certain factories.
