Strawberry has been my favorite flavor since I was old enough to make a choice. I have had strawberry cake of some kind for my birthday every year. Strawberry cake, strawberry cheese danish, strawberry shortcake, strawberry cheesecake....I also love strawberry pie, strawberry icecream, chocolate dipped strawberries....I could go on, lol. What's your favorite strawberry dish and if its really good, can you share the recipe?

Strawberry Pavlova - Strawberry Pavlova
Strawberries are wonderful just plain and fresh, although I also eat them with cream or ice cream sometimes. I use ours to make strawberry jam but it seems that it takes a lot to make a little bit of jam. Not actually a little jam but it soon seems to go because everyone wants to eat it on toast or bread all the time. LOL I also use strawberries for cooking but generally they are not fresh strawberries, because they do not last long enough for anything like that. The only time I get to keep fresh strawberries for baking is if I use them to decorate the cake or if I make a pavlova. :) Here is a photo of a strawberry pavlova for you twistedvanilla.

I didn't grow any strawberries this past summer but I'm going to try it again this coming summer - I love strawberry freezer jam, it's so much better than store bought jam. And you're right, jam seems to just disappear, lol.

Thanks very much for giving me best response for this discussion twistedvanilla. It is really appreciated. :) I was "pleased" to read that we are not the only ones who go through heaps of strawberry jam and yes home made is much nicer than store bought. :)

I absolutely adore strawberry shortcake with lots of whipped cream. When I was little, my grandma had strawberries in her garden. We used to watch them feverishly to see if they were big enough and red enough to eat. She would wash them for us and give us each a little bowl of sugar to dip them in. Do you also enjoy the strawberry quik milk mix? I love a nice cold glass of milk with pinky goodness. I always put in a smidge too much powder so I have the dregs to look forward to with their strawberry sweetness.

My dad used to have a garden when I was very small, and he grew german strawberries for his mother...or at least he tried to. As soon as they were conceivably ripe enough to eat, I could be found sitting in them, eating away! I don't drink the strawberry milk too often, but it is very good - I like to use it with strawberries and other fruit, yogurt, and ice in a blender - makes a really yummy shake.

I love strawberries in general! There are so many things you can use strawberries for it seems. I know that I usually use strawberries to make fruit shakes. I usually will take the strawberries & blend them in with banana. I find the two mixed together is rather yummy indeed! I also love to take berry cups & then put strawberries on top & then add whipped cream. All combined together leads to it being a rather yummy, yet simple & convenient dessert for one to make! I know that I'd always loved "Strawberry Shortcake." I love the way the Safeway down here makes this dessert. As I find they not only make it look appetizing but they spread the fruit out as well.. So it's not like your only get whipped cream, you are also getting the fruit on the dessert as well. I know I've tried purchasing this dessert from other places & it's not quite as good as when I purchase this dessert from Safeway. I've always wanted to make this dish on my own but I question if it's complicated to make. I'd like to try though someday in the near distant future. Another thing that I love to make with strawberries is of course the famous "Chocolate Covered Strawberries." I find these very simple to make.. And I know I make them for me & my other half especially when it's a special occasion that we are celebrating. Whether it to be our Anniversary or Valentines Day or whatever it may be. I always end up using Hershey's chocolate to make these as that chocolate I find is to die for.. After they are cooled I sometimes will sprinkle a little bit of icing sugar over top of them as well. I don't like purchasing chocolate covered strawberries from anywhere as I'd much rather prefer to make them on my own.. As I find it's a lot more worth you money if you are to make them on your own.. Some other strawberrie dishes that I like would have to be as follows: Strawberries on top of pancakes, Strawberry Parfaits, Strawberry Rhubarb Pie, Strawberry Sundae's, etc.. In conclusion, I find strawberries can be used for almost any dessert these days.. I love how strawberries give dishes a little something.. I know that strawberries are one of my absolute favorite fruits.. But when they are mixed with banana's I find them to be even more delicious! Thanks for allowing me to share! xx

There is a restraunt that I love to go to. They have a dessert that is to die for. It has a chocolate cake with fresh strawberries inside it, ice cream on top, hot fudge, fresh strawberries with strawberry drizzle, and whip cream. They will also put nuts on top if you like. It is so good. I get that everytime I go there.

The best way to serve up strawberries is to cut the tops off, clean the dirt off, place them in a nice glass bowl and sprinkle some sugar over the top, no need to stir. Let the strawberries sit in the fridge for about an hour or a few more if you allow them too, take out and serve with cream, you can save the juicy syrup left over and add some milk to it for a sweet strawberry milkshake mmmmmm yummy I want some strawberries now.
