Hi! We used to walk down to the local grocery store a block away and spend our allowance on penny candy. Remember being able to get a bag full of candy for just 50 or 75 cents? I remember a candy bar, I think it was called 7 up or something like that. It was chocolate with 7 different flavored centers. It was awesome! We used to get those cone-shaped suckers with all different flavors (like a bomb pop but not frozen). Oh, and Razzles, the candy that turns into a gum. What cool memories! :-)

Hockeygal, this is off topic, but I was just wondering who your hockey team is. I got discouraged during the strike, but my team is the Denver Avalanche. Nothing like a good hockey game!

If I have to pick.. I go with the Penguins as I'm 2 hours from Pitt. But I tend to love to watch individual players. I have friends that play on various NHL teams and it's tuff to cheer for one team. LOL I have 2 friends that play for the Devils and it kills me when they play pittsburgh!!!

The one childhood candy I really miss is cinnamon hot balls. I cannot find them as hot as I remember them, and often now they turn out to be gum, what a disappointment. Also, do you know of Necco wafers? There are a bunch of these sweet flat wafers in a roll. I think they cost almost a dollar now but I remember getting a package for five cents. They are in all flavours in one package, licorice, chocolate, mints and fruit flavours.

I found them once locally and once in a while can find them here in bulk, the hot balls. My dad was telling me a story about Necco wafers, they'd go to the closet in the dark and snap them and see the sparks fly!!! I have no idea what causes it but what a kewl thing for a kid!!! lol

My candy would be the White Rabbit[translated from Chinese] sweet. It was this milky gummy sweet that was wrapped in edible and transparent rice paper. My siblings and I devised ways to eat it every Chinese New Year when my mother would buy it to fit all the other kids who paid us a visit. I haven't seen it around as often but I think they do still sell it. Oh they evoke such good memories...good memories.
