On average I’ve lost 2-3lb a week with weeks where the scales haven’t moved, and on the odd occasion I’ve hit 4lb. I don’t eat a lot, not on purpose, I just eat what my appetite requires and that’s about 1000 calories a day. I exercise a lot, on usual weeks swimming four hours a week, and running two miles on every day I don’t swim (steadily building) and I’ve just lost more than I need to lose. Lost about 70lb need to lose a further 60lb. I haven’t restricted myself food-wise, I’m not on a ‘diet’, I do eat whatever I feel like, but the key word is moderation. If you want to go to McDonalds(not the best choice, best example however) do so! Just compensate for what you ate at the next meal time and eat something lighter. I’ve gained more from being active than losing weight, I suppose it comes part and parcel, though when I started running I found my level of fitness soared. Selling quick-easy-ways to lose weight is easy money often targeted at the vulnerable concerned with their body image. Fact is you can lose 14lb in two weeks, it won’t be too healthy. My Dad has been in hospital over the past fortnight and lost 14lb, he was being fed through a pipe on the basics, and not moving, apparently getting 2000 calories a day and he still lost a considerable amount of weight. Will he put it back on? Of course as soon as he returns to normal eating habits he’ll be hitting the weight he was.

True! Thank you for the well thought response. Swimming is a good cardiovascular workout and also running or jogging. Self control would probably be the hard part if you really want to lose weight but then again there's motivation: self motivation, family and even friends who can motivate you. Drastically losing weight is a dangerous way to go since your body is not used to that. Better to lose weight slowly.

That picture is pretty true to the word obese, but how would you encourage someone in that situation to do something about it? Its definitely about what we consume and how much we consume. The flabbiness is from lack of any form of exercise. I hope to encourage someone to at least try to walk 30-45 minutes every other day.

My sister weighs probably 300-350 pounds and she does nothing but work at a desk all day and then probably go home and sit at her desk some more. She signed up for Curves at one point, but never went. And tried to diet, and that lasted about 2 days. She even has high blood pressure already and she's only 25. She tells my mom she's happy with her body, which I don't know how she can be, when I weigh a lot less than she does, and I'm insecure at times.

Sedentary lifestyle is one factor of building up those fats. Without that much of activity going, sitting in front of the desk all day and then when you go home you continue your sitting in front of the TV then again you are not burning off that much of calories.

well, it is true that you can eat anything you want and still lose weight. It's not so much what you eat, but how much of it you are eating. Other than that, all else you stated is a true fact. Remember you are what you eat.

The statement actually is misleading. After eating and you sit in front of the TV you are still burning off calories but not as much as when you go for a walk or you jog. We can eat anything we want as long as in moderation.

Step 1 Once you reach target, add 250 calories a day to your existing daily calorie intake. This means if you’ve been having 1,250 calories each day, you should now have 1,500 calories a day. Step 2 After a week, weigh yourself on your usual scales. You’ll probably have lost a little more weight. If so, add another 250 calories to last week’s daily allowance. So, if you were having 1,500 calories a day, now have 1,750 calories daily. Step 3 After a week, weigh yourself again. If you’ve lost more weight, add an extra 250 calories to your daily intake, for example from 1,750 calories to 2,000 calories each day. Step 4 After a week, if your weight has stabilised that’s the amount of calories you need each day to keep your new slim shape. If you’ve gained a tiny amount, drop your daily calorie intake by 100 calories, for example, from 2,000 calories to 1,900 calories daily. After a week, weigh yourself again. If your weight has stayed the same, that’s the amount of calories you need each day for weight maintenance. If your weight has gone up or down, juggle your daily calorie intake by 50 calories a day until your weight eventually stabilises. Step 5 Weigh yourself once a week on your usual scales until you are confident that you’re maintaining your healthy weight.

Yes, this is true. All these are bogus. You can use weight by just making a simple nutricious diet.

I go by the phrase, you didn't pack on the weight overnight, so it's not going to go off overnight. Although me and my mom are going to go on the Weight Watchers diet after Christmas. And my step dad bought some meal replacement shakes from his company he sells for. And we're going to exercise. But my job right now contains pretty physical work, so I can already tell I'm losing inches.

All these easy way to lose weight are absolutel absurd. I really don't think that we can lose weight without toiling hard for it. Only way to lose weight would be to either work out hard and eat less, this is the only direct way to go about it, there is absolutely no short cut for losing weight.

really, there are no products (natural or not) that make you loose weight, unless of course they have invented a pill that cuts off your apetite, but even that would be very bad for you. In order to losse weight, just do what the experts say, because that is why they're named experts, they know A LOT about that particular subject. You don't need to spend much money on diets and exercize machines, by just reading this thread and following the advices posted above, and with a strong will, you will definately loose some weight. Best of luck!
