When the cashier gives you the wrong change do you tell them?

it actually depends on my mood. but i usually return the extra change. the money is not for me, it's for the company. and i don't want the cashier to be blamed because they lack a few hundreds. the person-in-charge of the store might think that the cashier stole the money and she might loose her job. i know i'm exaggerating but i just don't feel like taking something which is not intended to be mine.

i think we should be honest enough to let them know.that just happened to me the other day.i stopped at the gas station and got $8.00 in gas.went in to pay for it and handed her a 20 dollar bill.she gave me $15.00 back.i let her know as soon as she done it she only owed me $12.00.i'm sure she really appreciated that.because at the end of the night her cash register would have come up short and it would have came out of her pocket.

I'm certain the cashier appreciated your honesty. Thanks for posting.

I would always let them know and return it. I have ran registers at many jobs, and sometimes it is cruciall to stay within a dollar or two of your daily balance. If too much is gone, it could be a write-up or that cashier may need to make up the difference out of pocket. Besides karma may get ya... Honesty is always better.

There were times when I didn't tell them but if it happened to me today I would definitely tell them. I don't think my conscience would let me do otherwise. There have been a few occassions when we walked out of the store and forgot to pay for something or for some reason we weren't rung up for the item and we've gone back in and either paid for it or told them we walked out without paying and gave it back. Guilt works so hard on my conscience...it really can be quite annoying...lol

I know first hand that when i make a mistake i appreciate it when someone tells me because i would either have to pay it from my own pocket or would be suspended from work for a week. For this reason, i make it a point to tell the cashier when it happens to me, because i don't what the same thing to happen to them.

Yes, and it is an instinct for me. Especially if it exceeds what I am supposed to receive. I don't get money that is not mine. For I always believe, it is easy to earn your "own" money if you will only work smarter and harder.
