That's because christianity doesn't promote martyr-ship. The right-wing muslims feel that dying for your religion gets you a one way ticket to a bunch of virgins in heaven. What they forget though is that most martyrs in history did a little more than strapping a bomb to their chest and blowing up yourself firstly and then a bunch of innocent people, which gets you a one way ticket directly to hell. Muslims think that if we offend them then it is their right to correct us with violence or whatever means necessary to get their point across. Again they forget that we are not supposed to judge our fellow brother even if their beliefs differ from ours. We are all God's children. I'm not saying that all Muslims feel this way, just the extremist ones. Extremist christians would rather broadcast on their TV shows they think we should assasinate the pres. of venezuela instead of running around like fools setting churches on fire because they think he's wrong. Religion is all about how you interpret the religious text.

You have made some nice arguments up there, but let me add something to it...
I am an Indian and a Hindu guy and in our community, we are tought from the begiineng that Muslims are our enemies. I beleived it all my life, till i moved to a new city. I didnt had any frnds so i had to make some new ones... and i did. i made lots of new frnds and to my surprise, among them, many were muslims. I came to know that not allof them are alike. My frnds dont wrap a bomb around their chest or talk about getting a bunch of virgins... they act, talk and live like normal people... Yes, they do offer namaaz (muslim form of worship) 5 times a week, but that does'nt makes them terrorists... does it???
What am trying to ay that i too hated every muslim, till i met some real ones who actually follow the teachings of islam, which also include living peacefully and morally upright life.
So i think it would be wrong to label every muslim just because some ignorant ones have done what they should not had...

blurrd I really like your comment since you're not generalizing people. although once you were but after knowing bunch of good one you decided to have a more balance judgment I think is good.
Christians, Muslim both have extremist. it doesn't really mean the religion is bad, but their way of interpreting the religion differs and that's why we see people who admit being religious actually go to the opposite than what the religion teavh

Reading your comments I feel you have taken the stance that most people feel who listen to the press and the right-wing American government before finding out the true facts.
We have been made to fear Muslims and believe we are under attack from them, don't believe all you read!! There is a minority that will die for their religion and many of them are brainwashed into beleiving this is the way forward.
Although Christians may not do this, they go about things in a more subtle way. Look at Gods Army in America. Groups of young children/adults are home schooled, and then educated in their own university next to the White House. They too are brainwashed into believing that their God is the truth and their mission is to take up the promminent roles within the White House. To me that is just as bad.
To fear the unknown is the best propaganda. My advise to you is to go and speak to the Muslim community and you will find that they are not fools or terrorists.
I used to live with the threat of bombs from the IRA for many years but I never thought all Irish people were terrorists. If you ever get the chance, watch a film called 'Loose Change' you can buy it on ebay. Then decide who the real terrorists are.

A few things:
1- Loose Change is given no credit in the real world of politics becuase it is clearly a biased, non scientific source. People only believe this movie in the internet forums. Its make believe. Junk Science.
2- You're completely paranoid about a Christian takeover, so much so that you can't see the OBVIOUS secularization of America.
3- You have no idea how to make an argument.
Deny or refute that Muslims rioted about Muhammad, trying to make a point that infidels will be killed if they insult Muslim practices.
Deny that Christians haven't behaved this way in a thousand years!
Claim that the Christians are more dangerous in their proselytizing.
You can't.

Yes I agree , io just gave a rsponse in an another discussion on the same lines. Soon Muslims will need papers to walk on road too. Just because few of them are supporting such extremist claims. They are alienating all islamics from the world and spreading distrust for their community as a whole. Islam doesnm't teach hatred it asks to clean your own heart and rage a war inside yourself to clean your own souls, not clean up the world.Fundamentalists are just p[lain stupid people taking their own personal revfenge. Terrorists do not have any religion they are no better than murderers.

Whoever knows the meaning of the word "Musalman" will never commit such things. This is the problem of our present society which is not teaching the good way of religion & instead the society is utilising the word religion to make its way for its survival , be it muslim , christian or hindu or any society.

I feel sorry for anyone who was brought up with a religious though that any god would reward such cowardly actions of mass killing. Really wouldn't you think that god would have run out of virgins by now if that was true. I am not really all that religious but what I do believe is that there is a god and he rewards those that lead a respectful life and respects the lives of others. The said part about it is that many are raised with this belief and believe it blindly and it's so said. They really think they are doing god's work. I pray for them too.

Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life. There is no other name given whereby someone can be saved. Someday, at the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow - in heaven and earth. That's what God says and I won't argue with Him.

God does not compel people to believe and obey Him. He commanded His followers to be in peace with all men and not to fight. God gives the freedom of choice, obey or not obey, do what you want or not. He does not interfer.
But He has given His Word - those who obey Him shall be with Him in heaven on the last day. Those who disobey shall be thrown in hell together with the devil to suffer everlasting punishment.
God said vengeance is for Me so let those who want to blaspheme Him do so. Their punishment is waiting for them.

Ya, seriously. If extremest Muslims were not so insecure about their religion they would be able to handle cartoons. It's ridiculous that they would want people to die over cartoons or words spoken by the Pope. Even people who don't believe in God at all don't act so childish.

That is because Jesus taught us to turn to the other cheek and to love your enemies. He taught us that if your enemy is hungry we should feed them and if they are thirsty, we should give them water to drink. We are taught that our struggles as christians are not with people. But with those principalities of darkness in the heavenly places which influences mankind. For the world is swayed by the devil.

I think your topic speaks to 2 points. coercian is alot easier than thoughtful discussion. Couple that with a miserable group of people who are not happy with their life, and you have a group terrorists who will act violent rather than talk. It's sad that a person's sole purpose and greatest contribution to the world is the destruction of innocent people. Or maybe I am wrong, maybe happily married family men with a bright future ahead of them are the ones willing to blow themselves up because of a cartoon.

great discussion ah..
well, you're definitely right. It depends upon the people regardless of what is the religion it has. Those you say extremist are those people who are believing their religion alone, not realizing the respect and individual difference of others.
although no one can tell what's really the best religion, what's important is to share and to live what is the same good, and not of arguing and debating on its difference. Cause as long as there has many beliefs, disagreement will never stop.

it is because christianity is much more tollerent than islam. Islam is much more insecure and the extremists are able to take advantage of this

Its all a struggle for world domination .. someone asked me how do we have world peace .. I said to start with we must wipe out churches and take it indoors .. I think its a personal thing and should be done indoors [ have a wall in your home where you place things on a wall and thats where you pray ].. If you want to pray to a duck thats fine ,if you want to pray to god thats fine .. we need to love each other ..

Muslims feel they are so different and so insecure. What they have to start to do is to live a holy life and start ignoring other people ideas.
