The issue of ilegal inmigrants it's not that complicated...

Well, yes they broke the law when they got in here ilegal, but it's like when somebody with a clean record kills on self defense and can prove it, they become the victims. These people who come here to work and that respect the laws, being honorable citizens, are victims who broke that one law seeking a better life. And in return they give this country their hard work and best behavior. Inmigrants have given so much to this country and it's not fair to take what they've worked so hard for away from them. If somebody has been here for a long time working hard, respecting the laws, and contributing to the growth of this country, is it called justice to take that away from them? What they deserve instead of deportation, it's a legal status. Those who come here to disturb the peace and to harm the people who are part of this wonderful country, are the ones who need to be punished by the law and taken back to where they came from.

Well you obviously have not watched your family suffer as a result of these people and their "hard work" when your family goes from having work to not having work. I have and I have seen what it has done and I have no compassion for the people who come here illegally and I never will. Granted everyone has a right to live and a right to work but if you want to come here come here the right way. Do the paperwork, wait your turn and come when you are given permission not when you damn well feel like it. I am one of the people who will be watching the border each and every day when the Texans get the site back up and running and I will report each and every person I see coming here illegally and when I have the chance I will report those who I can who have already made it here and are stealing the food from the mouths of my children with their illegal actions by coming here illegally, using social security numbers that are not theirs and any other illegal method they have in order to obtain work illegally. Merry Christmas? Not this year, care to know why?

They are illegal.. They are breaking the law!! We go to any other country illegally, we would be thrown into there jail. If we go to another country, we will not be able to get a job without filing citizenship to it. I dont think its right for the other way around. You break the law, you break the law, thats that. They shouldn't get treated any different than any other criminal who breaks the law. Self Defense is not illegal, you can kill in self defense. So my theory, you want to live here, take the time, and get your green card. Thats what the citizinship papers are about. If they really wanted to live here, they would go through the process the legal way. Its not like we make it impossible for them to get a green card. Many of my friends have recieved theres. Its the illegal immigrants who make immigrants look bad. So I say, you find them, you deport them, you find them again, you lock them up in jail for 5 years, and bring them back, and each time, just add 5 years to there sentence, till they learn to do it the legal way.

Do you realize how DISGUSTED naturalized citizens from Mexico and other countries are about this issue? Why would you want to disregard the law instead of following it to become Legal. My hardest part with all this is the arrogance of the illegal aliens wanting our welfare benefits, social security benefits, earning and job possibility benefits, freedoms and priveleges without legally doing there part like all of us Citizens do. They've filled up some of our schools so greatly that the kids here that deserve the education can't even receive it effectively in English.

If our children desire to learn Spanish, hey they may choose to take the course. Why should our children be forced to Learn Spanish just because illegal aliens are in the system. Why should any of us Americans be forced to learn another Language when our Language is English? To think that illegal aliens aren't infiltrating the schools here in CA, you're in denial. They're being bused in from Calexico and other border spots to fill some schools, just so they can receive extra government funding for having low-performing students. They aren't even legally supposed to be in the schools in the first place. All I ask is go through the proper channels to become a citizen and then truly enjoy the benefits of our wonderful country. Your bleeding heart will only break our country and destroy the systems our citizens have paid into to help our children and elders. All for what...for someone that has illegally forced their way into our country, continues to be illegal instead of taking part in the wonderful system legally. They want our welfare money, medical help, social security benefits, without paying into it like CITIZENS do, isn't that robbery? They are also tax-evaders. Can't pay taxes is you're not a citizen, no one knows you're here. Hey, that makes it three crimes now...that we know of.

I don't think it affects the English education. But instead of seeing it as a problem why not implementing the school system so that american children can learn spanish too? Bilingual proffesionals have more opportunities.

Thank goodness somebody believes the way I do! I think if an illegal is caught they should have their records checked, etc.. and if all comes out clean and they have been a model citizen they should be allowed to stay and started on the legalization process. If they are caught and records, etc.. are checked and they have committed a crime of any type they should be immediately deported. A lot of illegals come here to survive and provide for their families. Entering illegally is wrong but some don't have the time to wait, their families will not survive the amount of time it takes to get legal or they cannot afford the cost of getting legalized properly.

So why do we have any laws at all in our society? If people who are not citizens and who are here illegally are granted pardons, why should our own citizens obey the law? It's sad that these people are so destitute in their own countries, and I think that more should be done on a global level in the humanitarian efforts to help these people, but the rules are in place to protect the U.S. and the American people.

Hmm, if they have a clean record huh? Well, seeing how they BROKE the law to get into our country, they already have a record IMO.

I definatly agree with these two guys. it is breaking the law to live in live here without going threw the proper procedures. I am not oppossed to helping people from everywhere better thier lives, but we have to look at this as the whole issue.. If illegal immigrants are taking american jobs, becoming a issue with the crime etc. While I do feel for them and thier families there has to be a way to control this issue, and that is why we have the law.

I think that choose a side of this battle is uselless. Well, I am brazilian. I am stdying in two univesities at same time. A private (where i'm studying marketing) and a public (where I am studying Portuguese Language). I consider myself a reliable person, a cultural evoluted person. ANd i consider that maybe Brazil don't give me the needed feedback to grow up in professional and personal career. So, what i want to do? Migrate, yes. I speak 3 languages, one of my hobbies is phylosophie, another is music. I am not a criminal, not even a sick person. I think i had so much to do to a country like USA. But i am fearing to suffer by genophobia. Since September 11, american people are fullfiled of moe. Think about Brazil, we are very grartefull to the Italians and japaneses that help us to built the 4th bigger city in the world, Sao Paolo. Yes, I think imigrants should be legal. (Illegal could be a risk to state control) But I think that the US government should pay more attention in skill, in education grade and qualification deegre of the inmigrants. WHat really happens its a hostillity made by americans against inimigrants. We can be honest, cult, and inteligente people just like you.

The problem is that the immigrants that come to the U.S. illegally have no skills, education, or qualifications other than that they are physically capable of working on migrant farms or doing manual labor while hiding from the INS. American citizens go to jail for tax evasion, for example. Illegal aliens should go back to their own countries and either apply for and await legal immigration status or work to improve the situation in their own countries. We are a society of laws and rules, and why is it that some bleeding-hearts condone illegal immigration and say that we should let the poor Mexicans stay because their country sucks and they are poor, yet the same people would fight to have an American thrown in prison for a lesser crime? There are plenty of countries in the world that are poverty stricken, have unstable governments, and that plain suck. Maybe we should invite all of sub-Saharan Africa to live in California also?

I disagree. While they may have the best intentions they are still a strain on the economy. Even with hard work, one might assume that they then need transportation. SO they buy a car, well you can't get insurance without a license.. you can't (in most states) get a license without citizenship, so this leads to major issues. Furthermore, they require health services. These services must be paid by the tax payers as most illegals have no form of health insurance. I could go on and on, and will if that is requested (please send a private message to me to let me know that you would like further clarification).

Right now if the governor told them all to go back to Mexico and come through the immigration process to become citizens, do you think they would? Of course not, but yet you say they are all law abiding people. If the illegal aliens are such good people and are really giving back to the community as law abiding citizens would, then do the right thing and become a Naturalized Citizen like the many illegal aliens have done and still do. If they've crossed the moral line of disobeying the laws once just to get here, apparently they don't truly plan to abide by the laws of the land at all. They've chosen to hide in seclusion out of fear of the consequences of their actions of being here illegally and yet now they feel since they got away with it so far that they actually have rights as a True Law Abiding Citizen ( born or Naturalized). How can you possibly have compassion for this arrogance and disrespect for USA?

I would hardly call tearing down the American flag in a small town in Southern California then raising a Mexican flag on the courthouse there while running the American flag upside down below it, respecting our laws. That is a declaration of war. Many of them are coming here and killing, robbing and molesting our children. I'm sorry some of them didn't feel like coming through immigration the right way, and I'm sorry their country sucks, but we don't need that here. We have enough problems right now. If one of us went into their country illegally, that person would be in a Mexican prison for God knows how long. Hmmm...is that fair? When my baby cousin (8 years old, close enough) was molested by an illegal Guademallan (sp?), do you think they locked him up for it? Nope, they didn't even look for him after a week. He's probably hurt God knows how many little girls by now. So don't come at me telling me we owe the illegals, we don't owe them anything but a free ride back to their home.

I totally disagree here. Someone breaking into a home and someone killing in self defense are two totally different scenarios. Illegal aliens are doing just that, breaking in. Under the theory you presented, if someone breaks into your home and cleans before robbing you, the burglar should be allowed to keep your valuables and your home because he did a better job than the owner. Why should they be allowed to break the law? There is a legal way to become an American citizen. Our ancestors did it. All immigrants should be treated fairly. Unfortunately, illegal immigration does hurt America. Yes, these immigrants provide inexpensive labor and hard work. Many of them are law abiding. When these immigrants seek medical care, it falls back on the citizens. If welfare does not cover it, those unpaid bills are passed on in the form of higher rates. Many illegal immigrants are somehow receiving aid. Those who are arrested are increasing the corrections cost. Illegals do not pay taxes, but utilize services funded by taxpayer dollars. It is very simple. If immigrants wish to stay here, they should be required to become citizens. No more free anything. No free medical care. No free schooling. If they are not citizens, there will be no freebies. If someone is found to be illegally in this country, that person should be given the option to become a citizen. (Yes, the process should be streamlined and made more efficient.) If the person refuses, that person should be immediately deported. I am hard working. I should not have to provide tax dollars for those who sneak into the country.

I disagree totally. True, a lot of these illegals have been here and have worked hard for years. Most of them have stayed out of legal trouble, most likely for fear of being caught and being deported. But they broke OUR laws when they entered our country; why should they stay here when so many other people have to wait on lists to be granted entry into the U.S? As for the person who commits murder in self-defense and then ends up being protected by U.S. laws because he is a victim: the big difference is that this person is a U.S. citizen legally, and is entitled to be protected by our laws. The illegal immigrants should not be protected by our legal system- they are criminals. They should return to their own countries and continue their upstanding status and hard work while they are waiting to file the paperwork and interview for legal entry into our country. In the meantime, someone with the moral integrity to do the right thing should be granted immigration status. Another important consideration is that instead of worrying about the poor criminals who come here illegally, let's think about the diseases that they could be bringing here. All LEGAL entries into the U.S. must pass a medical exam, which includes testing for HIV, Tuberculosis, and Hepatitis. The illegals could be here spreading God knows what, and they are generally in hiding, so they tend not to seek medical care even when they are sick.

This comment is for tiamat: my statement about illegals carrying diseases into this country was in no way a nasty, discriminatory comment or dig. It is a matter of fact. Any person gaining entry into the U.S. must be tested for HIV, and they are turned away if they are positive. That is a fact that you can research and find to be true. In my field of HIV/AIDS care, I have encountered illegals who are HIV and Hepatitis positive; these people have no insurance because they are illegal, and they are waiting for a charitable group to sponsor them so that they can stay here. I am not saying that Mexicans are more likely than Americans to have infectious diseases; what I am saying is that part of the immigration law is to test for these diseases, and by gaining entry illegally, they are potentially bringing major health problems with them, which could be transmitted to Americans.

I would copy and paste, but that is forbidden, that remark about illegals carrying disease is a nasty dig, c'mon thats like saying jews carry diseases or black people. Yes a nation must secure it's border's, but alot of this "help the mexicans are coming" is racist, xenophobic, paranoia.

Well said. And I totally agree. Legal immigrants come into our countries to get a better chance at life. Why do the illegals come? Immigrants, legal or otherwise, are moving into our cities all the time. Almost seems like there are more of them than original residents.(not that I'm complaining about this. It's good to live in such a culturally diverse country). The illegals come in, steal our jobs, work for people who don't care about illegal hiring practices, until something goes wrong. Most legal immigrants have extensive training from their countries and come to our countries to use their experience. Unfortunately, most of them become taxi drivers since their experience is useless here(I don't understand why, especially if what they learned is the same here), and they're forced to go back to school. I really hate to think about what kinds of diseases these illegals are importing. Very scary indeed.

1- The broke the law. 2- They put strain on our economy in general: health care, work force, etc 3- They aren't all innocent, lots of illegal immigrants become criminals 4- They don't pay taxes and aren't assimilating or contributing to our society. That's how I feel about the issue.

You describe people who are legal aliens, respect the laws and have with green cards, etc. Illegal aliens are the ones who don't respect the laws, they dont't pay taxes, use emergency medical facilities (give birth), send their children to our schools all for which we pay taxes. I was once a legal alien came to the States, after working for the US government in Africa and Europe for 12 years, 8 of them married to an American but I came here legally and am now a proud American citizen. I absolutely do not believe anyone who has come to this country illegally deserves to stay and live from taxes which I pay into.

I think not. It's still against the law. Mean, do we allow others to betray our own country by that? nah.. i dont think so. But hey, i wish there are no more boundaries between countries and oceans.. so that.. haha so that we could just pass by anyone's place. good idea huh?

I think that when God made the WORLD he did not think about placing limítes for the peoples who lived in it. I do not understand why the people cannot go for where they desire to go, to live where they desire to live, life where they want to live... This is not to be free
