A Homeowner has been taking care of more than 170 cats at her 10-acre home. Now the county in which she lives in is ordering her to remove most of the cats. Do you think this is fair treatment, since the cats is living on her spacious property and she has more than enough space for the 170+ cats to live on or do you think this is just too many cats to have as pets. Perhaps she is farming cats...LOL. If they are in good shape and well fed and the property in decent along farming lines then what is the problem. Neighbors possibly fussing? Hopefully they are all spayed or neutered. She may just be doing the county a favor taking these kitties in. I know our county animal shelter is too full. Also know she does not have any rodent problem.

I have six cats and that's for me. But 170....WOW! She sounds like a collector. It's a disease where the person collects collects more cats/dogs than they can take care of. Is anyone helping her take care of the cats? Feeding them? I think it would be more humane to find them household where they could be loved by families rather than an individual trying to take of them.

I think alot of it depends on if they are looked after medically and so on. Are they altered or allowed to reproduce? Or do they go into neighbors yards and do damage there?
I think if you can care for many properly then kudos to you; this is a wonderful thing to do for the neglected and abandoned or has she been considered by the county has being a hoarder?
With proper care, attention, and security I think one who takes on such a huge task is deserving of being looked at as an angel on earth for the disposed animals.

Much as I love animals I think that 170 animals is too much for one person to take proper care of,by that I mean tend to all their needs not just throw out a bag of dry food and let them run wild.

170+ that is allot of cats but if she is taking care of them on her property which is highly unlikely because we know cats get around but on the other hand at least she is taking care of them and if she where to take them to a shelter after being there for so long and not getting adopted they would be put to sleep so i say let her kep her cats.

Enough of is Enough of' when you're brain is about to burst..and you're heart grows heavy, you feel like you want to scream so you can let out even the littlest bit of angre..you close you're off of others..you feel as if you want to be alone so you can collect you're thoughts. I've went through that, not that long ago

I'm not sure if it's something the government should be getting involved in but my main concern is for the cats. I just wonder how well someone can properly care for all the animals, the way they should be, when you have that many pets to take care of. It also seems like it would be a completely unhealthy situation for her to live in but that's just a theory. I can't really back that up. Something just tells me it's not very sanitary.

if the cats are living in the residential areas then she has to let them go as they creat nuiecence in the are but if she is living in the out skirts then that is good

It is sometimes not fair for so many cats to live together! I don't know how she manages so many! but having so many cats around to care for some weak or shy cats are left behind or may die!

I can't imagine 170 cats. I have a friend that has 23 and I think that is alot. She has a name for every cat that belongs to her.

I think all animals need a few things from people healthy food ,shelter, vacinations ,space ,time and love .I might can see how a person can give 170 cats enought food ,vacinations, shelter and space but I don't see how they can spend time each day with each cat with that many .I think chances are alot are wild and not vacinated thats a health issue right there not only for her cats but other pets and people .

True she has enough space and money perhaps to support the cats but there might be a law or ordinance which is violated. Or perhaps, some other people are disturbed by such many cats, by their sounds, etc.
If there are no laws violated and the community is not affected or anybody else, she has the right to do whatever she wants even if she raises a thousand cats.
It may not be right spending so much for pets when people around are starving especially children.
